THE FOUNDER

Eric B. Nelson, CFP®, CM&AA® – Founder and President

Eric is the President and Founder of OnMark Capital and leads the acquisition advisory practice for the firm. He is a buy-side M&A expert and provides outsourced corporate development support to institutional investors and corporations seeking to grow through strategic M&A. 

Prior to launching OnMark Capital, Eric was a Director in the buy-side practice at Citizens M&A Advisory, a top ten U.S. middle market advisory firm. Eric led the practice’s marketing and business development efforts, with a focus on generating proprietary, off-market deal flow for his clients. The aggregate valuation of the buy-side transactions initiated, both domestically and for multinational clients, was over $600 million. He was recruited by Citizens Financial Group in 2013 to launch a national business development channel focused on the middle market and large corporate segments.

A TRUSTED, EXPERIENCED ADVISOR

Prior to joining Citizens, Eric was a Private Wealth Advisor for Morgan Stanley, advising private, high-net worth individuals, entrepreneurs and affluent families on how to invest their portfolios and develop plans to meet their financial goals.

Eric was recruited by Morgan Stanley after the successful sale of United Funding Corp, a company he founded in 2002 and served as its CEO for close to a decade. Leading all aspects of this financial services firm, he drove its growth from an unknown entity to an area-leading service provider with an exceptional reputation.

Early in his career, Eric served in a variety of sales and leadership roles at several Fortune 100 companies.

Eric graduated from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He also holds an MBA from Boston College’s Carroll Graduate School of Management. Eric is a Certified Mergers & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA®) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®). Eric holds the FINRA Series 7 (General Securities Registered Representative), 79 (Investment Banking), and 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law) securities registrations.  

Eric resides in the Boston area with his wife, Evelyn, and spends his free time with his family and friends, golfing, traveling, and skiing. He is involved in several civic and social service organizations as well.
